Today, the Jersey is the second largest breed of dairy cattle in the world. On Jersey itself there are fewer than 6000 in total and no other breeds of cow at all. A strict ban on imports has protected the purity of the breed on the island for some 150 years.

Working from life with Jersey cows was a real pleasure. With their almost caricature like physiques, they made for a fascinating study. Each Cow was remarkably different from the next so I decided to concentrate on a particularly curious one and go from there.
